Details:

Silent movies produced in Recife, Pernambuco’s capital, Brazil northeastern, in a movement named Ciclo do Recife: regional dramas, revenges, love stories, and one or two “westerns”. Almery Steves, the star, the heroine; Ary Severo, the hero; Jota Soares (aka J.Soares), the vilain…Ciclo do Recife: 1921-1933. Stop the films in Recife. 1942, one new production, “O Coelho Sai”, directed by Firmo Neto (changing name : Berghedoff Elliott), with Geninha da Rosa Borges , a sound film but is missed. Other cicles: 1970’s (8mm, super 8mm) and 1980’s (new shorts in 35mm). A excellent documentary, has support of Rede Globo de Televisão. Very actors and personalities of 20s and 90s appeared in this very good work : Valdi Coutinho, Maria Rossiter, Ana Farache (muse of super 8), Edson Chagas, Ary Severo, Almery Steves, Barreto Junior and citations for news works of Lirio Ferreira, Claudio Assis, Ana Paula Portela and Henrique Amaral.
