Dante’s Desert is a supernatural / horror short film I directed for MOTELx - Lisbon International Horror Film Festival in 2010. Dante’s Desert is a short tale about a little girl’s first doctor’s appointment. “Dante’s Desert”: Bia is a 10 year Old girl like any other, who spends his life in front of the television to distract herself from her day-to-day repetitive and cruel life. She lives in a bitterly real world where there are no angels, spirits or protectors and every children have stopped sending messages to their imaginary friends. A real disappointment. Until one day she wakes up drenched in blood, trapped in a basement, with a sinister doctor and a nurse disturbed, Bia knows instinctively that they will harm her. And the question that arises is whether she really believes that in some trans-dimensional way she’ll be able to save herself from that sad fate. A mysterious traveler and a horse who may know the way to a possible paradise. Or not. Perhaps all that is there at the end is the goddamn Dante’s Desert. |
