Details:

Rabia is a dramatic biopic based on Wafa Idris, Palestine’s first female suicide bomber. Directed and written by Miguel Ali (aka Muhammad Miguel Ali Hasan), the story chronicles the major events of Idris’s life, including an abusive past, with every event piecing together the feelings behind her tragic decision. Rabia has screened at over 85 film festivals, winning over 35 awards, including recognition for its directing, writing, cinematography, editing, sound design and production design, and is currently being distributed worldwide by Elypse Films. Despite its controversial reviews, director Miguel Ali proudly maintains Rabia as an anti-terrorism film saying, “I don’t think people are born evil. I believe we’re all born innocent, even suicide bombers. But it’s not that you have to be evil in order to commit a suicide attack, rather, you have to feel worthless. No matter what we tell ourselves, ultimately, every suicide bomber was still a human, and if we did more to understand what made them feel so worthless, then our efforts in defeating terrorism will be more effective - that’s why I made Rabia - I want to defeat terrorism and Rabia is a film that will help that effort, through discussion and understanding.”
