Details:

Slim and Zake are rivals for the hand of Molly. Slim figures that with the art of prestidigitation he ought to be able to win Molly. He rehearses. Some of his tricks refuse to work, but as he has already announced a big performance he is obliged to hire an assistant. The exhibition is given in the corral and Slim does some wonderful stunts. Zake tries to queer the performance and is driven out. He plans revenge. For his last trick Slim borrows Molly’s new hat. He sticks it under a box. Zake, who has sneaked up from behind and covered the fellow behind the box with his gun, succeeds in getting it, and replacing it with his own old hat. Slim tells the audience that he will now make the hat disappear, and he gets the jolt of his life when he finds that it has disappeared. Molly demands that her hat be given back, and when Slim can’t produce it there is a near riot. Slim sees a hat that looks like Molly’s sticking over a nearby hedge, runs out and grabs it. He returns and gives it to Molly, who accepts it as her own. The real owner, who happens to be Molly’s mother, appears and demands her hat back. Zake also returns with the real hat, and Slim gets the jolt of his life.
