This story is about two people meet(who coincidentally share the name of the man they are discussing the testified[in court] man), whom they attempt to resolve the case of the main Paul(I’ll just call him PAUL, the other ones PAUL #1 and #2), disappearing and later classified as dead. PAUL #1 & #2 are basically reminiscing about PAUL to therefore classify what actually went wrong in terms of his death. (They must come up with a VALID reason as to how he died or else they will both be sentenced prison time.) In order for them to come up with a valid reason, they decide to recite a memoir of the last time they remember being with PAUL. After the memoirs were stated, PAUL #1 & #2 are still hesitant of the whole thing so they decide to vanish(through context; unscripted), so they vacate PAUL’s apartment. (When PAUL #1 & #2 go to the apartment, they go there still unknowing each other.) The two stories(memoirs) are vastly different in being one with PAUL & #2 in a mile-high club sort of deal and vanishing(then dying) mysteriously(as PAUL #2 knew at the time but not any more, same as PAUL #1). The memoir with PAUL & PAUL #1 consists of a more depressed, yet moody theme of the two sitting at a bar then leaving. The two memoirs have the same location. They conclude with PAUL #1’s memoir being correct, as they are still skeptic about it. Therefore, they can not negotiate a better reason to state in the continued trial, so they decide to vanish and disregard any judicial rules.
