Erik Klein is a dying German. George Callahan is a dead American. Both men fought courageously in World War II during the Battle of the Bulge. One left breathing. One left bleeding. Erik killed George with his bare hands. Years later, afflicted with cancer, a bed-ridden Erik seeks redemption in his final hours through a series of visions inspired by a small token he had stolen from George only moments after taking his life. As Erik muses about what might have been had their fates been reversed, we are forced to take a startling look at empathy as it attempts to overcome cultural barriers. Germanity seeks to blend tasteful surrealism with a silent, pensive stream of conscious narrative about human irony. |
